➽ After the cliffhanger in the last volume, I was eager to see where the story goes next! I personally find Tanaka very fascinating, as you don't really know what his motives are. He says he doesn't want his employer to get involved, but we don't know what's in it for him. Instead of attacking Hikaru like last time, Tanaka decides to reveal more information about the anomalies and Nounuki. It seems like Hikaru isn't the god the village revered after all, but might be a creature from the other side called Spawn, though he's not the only one of his kind. At one point, it seems like he got mistaken for the god, but there's still so much we don't know about the dark history of Kubitachi. I loved how Yoshiki reflected on why he doesn't want Hikaru to sacrifice himself. He knows it's not out of a selfless urge to save the village, but a selfish need to feel like even someone like Hikaru can be saved. Yoshiki has felt like an outsider his entire life, and it's hinted that the reason might be his attraction to boys. He was made to feel like a monster, and I love the parallels to Hikaru's existence!

➽ This volume officially begins the Arc dedicated to closing the holes that let the anomalies through. I have a bad feeling Hikaru will try to sacrifice himself to seal them! The dynamic between Hikaru and Yoshiki is my favorite, but this volume was more focused on the mystery and plot. We visit Maki's home town where a mysterious festival is just taking place. There were some genuinely creepy scenes, such as Maki dealing with the feet turning up everywhere in his room. I love how the art style manages to send a shiver down your spine!
