This was such a good time! Ira and Merit were everything!!!
So this was a slow burn, where we went through the journey between two characters who unknowingly needed each other. Ira was so kind as soon as he met Merit, and Merit being the shy socially awkward self she is, took some time but opened up.
I thoroughly enjoyed the plot. Two players who have gone through the same pain, however in different times coming together to give and receive help and then just clearly bonding. These two characters had chemistry from the get go!! I felt their connection and although we were getting it from two POVs the angst between them was so clear. Thank you to this author for bringing back angst, yearning and build up between characters.
When it comes to the characters I loved Merit. Her development was done so well! I really enjoyed the fact that she was able to heal, come out of her shell and kind of find out that she ish''t as alone as she felt she was. I was also so satisfied with how she wasn't just hyper focussed on Ira considering that this is a romance, she was fully fleshed as a character and wasn't there to just be a love interest.
When it comes to Ira, I loved him so much. He was so kind, so willing to learn merit and get to know her and understand why she moved the way she did and why she makes the decisions that she did. Also I love a thoughtful man! He was just everything and outside of helping merit, he opened her up to be receptive of others! He was just the best and had a great personality too!
The side characters were also a great addition to the story and I loved how the main characters had friends!
Lastly just the general way that this book had me feeling so good and giddy I just had a wholesome time!!! I would definitely recommend!

This felt like a healthier version of Love and Basketball. I loved how Merit’s and Ira’s relationship evolved and was pleasantly surprised by how much I loved this book given that I found it through a tik tok blurb. I enjoyed how much they had a in common yet contrasting personalities and communities surrounding them. I loved how they took care of each other. I’ll definitely be picking up more if this author’s books.
