ARC READER REVIEW:
This is the third book that I've read from Adorabol and wow, I need like 6939573548759 more stories from her.
Currently, I'm not as big into books that are 500+ pages long but with Adorabol's writing, you'd absolutely forget that you've read that many pages. I mean that in the best way possible. Her writing is like a breath of fresh air and it's like you're sitting in on the characters, watching them become the best versions of themselves.
I know this is a slow burn but OMG it was written at such a beautifully appropriate pace. Ira and Merit are the epitome of "love is patient, love is kind...". They bring out the best in each other and I think their plotlines made sense and weren't drawn out. Situations in the book happened, but it never left you frustrated or ready for it to be over with, it was written in a way that made me want to unpack it with character. Like why did Merit feel this way? Why is Ira doing this? Like I was SAT and ready to figure things out with them. It's like when two friends are confiding in you? Yeah, that's what this felt like.
This book is so thoughtfully written and I can see Adorabol's basketball background peak through even in the romantic fluff pieces. Yes, it's a sports romance but it's beyond that and it takes its time in the best way. I got to know the character's passion for the sport, the love and care of their families, the why of the characters and most importantly what makes them so beautiful together.
Whether you're in a reading slump or not, I recommend this book. If you don't like slow burns, this will make you itching for more of them. If you need something to comfort you, make you feel seen (tall, Black women HELLO!), or just a good book with some well done and intentional writing, then this one is for you.

This was my first sports romance and I will say I absolutely loved it. The story between Ira and Merit was such a beautiful story. Seeing a good healthy build up of love was a beautiful story to see. Their story was a slow burn but not too slow. The story was paced very well and I felt the build up between the too. While this was a longer read the story did not at all lack. I finished feeling satisfied yet wanting more.
The only con was the beginning of the book was rather confusing and there were parts of the book where the timeline seemed to jump forward then to real time. Besides those things this was an amazing read and I will definitely read from this author again! Thank you for allowing me to be an ARC reader!!

ARC Review! Thank you so much for an E- ARC in exchange for an honest review! I thoroughly enjoyed this slow burn basketball romance so much! I lovedddd Merit and Ira’s character development as individuals and together as well. Both characters experienced similar injuries within the basketball world, however they still had differences that tested the both of them in how to support one another! The banter between Merit and Ira was PERFECT, I ate it up every single time! Ira is my new book boyfriend; he was constantly there for Merit and learned how to support and love her in a way she could receive it, and not how he thought she should receive it! I also enjoyed the way the writer slowly gave easter eggs into both of the character’s past in order to further drive the story and explain why both of them act the way they do in the present! The descriptions of past family trauma and other experiences Merit went through was tough to read but necessary to demonstrate how much of a complex character she is! I will definitely read more the author’s book and I am a big fan of her writing!
This was really good! But also a smidge too long. Would read again for the vulnerability and the loveeee. I loved watching Merit open up! It was honestly so cute. And the chair moment? Epic haha.
I truly enjoyed this book and the story is so well developed their story made you laugh made you cry and made you feel all the feelings. I love the way Ira loved, cherished and protected her at all costs. Merit childhood trauma showed up in her adulthood and Ira helped her overcome a lot of her obstacles. It’s - what a man! I love his family and knew immediately they would become her family as well. Such a good book. All characters were well developed. Definitely recommend
