If you want to learn more about the Black Panther Party, the Black Power movement, and the ongoing struggle for racial and social justice in America, you should read Revolutionary Suicide by Huey P. Newton. This book is not just a memoir of his life and activism, but also a manifesto of his political philosophy and a treatise of his vision for a new world. He challenges you to think critically, to educate yourself, and to join the fight for liberation. He shares his personal experiences and the realities of the black community in America, without sugarcoating or hiding anything. He also calls for a global solidarity among the oppressed peoples of the world, and a radical transformation of the human consciousness. This book is a tribute to his legacy and influence, and a source of inspiration and motivation for anyone who cares about freedom and justice. I give this book , and I highly recommend it to everyone, especially to black people everywhere.

4.5/5 it took me quite a while to realize he was talking about 愚公移山 at the end lol translating chinese proverbs always catches me off guard a bit. i think knowing the context i do as a result of various adjacent accounts (+ his 1980 doctoral thesis where he discusses the influence COINTELPRO operations had on intra- and inter-party fractures, and assata's autobiography where she discusses the paranoia that surrounded the newton-cleaver split), there are some parts of his analysis of the bpp and amerika at large that don't hold up over time. still an incredibly necessary account of huey's life & the revolutionary effort he devoted his life to supporting

One of the greatest books by one of the greatest revolutionaries of all time. The last two chapters in particular are phenomenal beyond words.

Such a honest and sincere telling of Huey P Newton's life and the conditions/experiences that lead him to become the man he was and lead to the founding of the black panther party. He doesn't try to hide anything from his past. This is also a great memoir about growing up black in the united states and the obstacles and oppression that black people face everywhere in the us. Much of which still exists today. I believe anyone who is interested and wants to get involved in activism or revolutionary work in the united states needs to read this book.
