Outstanding. Almost 500 pages of consistent thrill and mystery. Very well written. James is a wonderful storyteller. The story kept me engaged the entire time. Unpredictable and full of surprises, twists and turns.

A serial killer is on the loose, choosing his victims and creating a storyline after the likes of a medieval period novel. And it is up to Detective Dr. Frank Bowers to find the clues that will lead him to the apprehension of this viscous and intelligent killer.

I have found a new favorite author and have already purchased the next book in the Bowers series. If you like mystery, action, and drama, you will like this cleverly written novel. I highly recommend it.

Knight is the best of the Bowers series so far. Very tense, very well done, and a great twist at the ending. James head-faked me a good four times on who the killer was in this book. Overall, it is a great read and definitely makes me want to read the next installment soon.

A fast, exciting read. I am a bit tired of the "surprise" revelation that the real villain is someone the hero knows/reports to/trusts, but the ride itself is fun.

Patrick Bowers is back in this third installment of the thriller series that draws its titles from chess pieces. (You absolutely do not need to read these in order)

This time agent Bowers is tracking a killer who may also be tracking him. It's a high stakes game of cat and mouse, but who is the mouse?

This is a fast-paced book filled with characters you'll adore. The case is intense and the villain is captivating. I would've liked a few more answers in the ending, leaving this at four stars. But overall, a well written book.

Sidenote: I just discovered this book is published by a Christian publishing house and is, therefore, labeled as a Christian thriller. I would never have guessed that. Atheists among my readers should not be afraid to pick this one up. No one is going to shove faith down your throat in these books.

I really enjoy how all of the Patrick Bower File books link together. It creates a big sense of continuity that I really enjoy. The Knight managed to pull off both a compelling plot, a compelling sub-plot involving Tessa's real father, and a compelling set-up for future books. The fact that the murder mystery was built upon the Decameron was a bonus for crazy lit people like me who have actually read parts of this book in the past.

4 stars.
