Revising my 2018 review of this to say Malcom Gladwell is a little bitch boy who has consistently published under-researched and factually incorrect books. I feel terrible for all the people to whom I have quoted anecdotes from this book. I renege them all. Highly recommend listening to the "If Books Could Kill" podcast episode that covers this atrocity.

Interesting - some points have since become much better known but they are well illustrated. Sometimes feels cherry picked but that is the nature of a book like this.

Written in such an engaging manner, Gladwell cleverly tells the story of how culture produces success and how our cultural biases can lead to disaster. A fascinating way to help a reader consider the opportunities that are presented to us to question the way we think about how to achieve success. Loved it!

We often look at success stories and think, if only I was that smart. Or that talented. Or had better genes. It's a defeatist attitude that puts too much importance on the idea of "genius" or "prodigy". Gladwell shows us that there are much more significant forces at play.

The good news is—if you can see all the strings attached to someone's success, you may be able to recreate those advantages. The bad news is—there are some areas where the game will be rigged against you from the start.

A great read that will change the way you think about success.

I'm slowly becoming a Malcolm fan girl, haha! This book was so fascinating though! And it reminded me so often of God's great providence as I considered all that we owe those He set before us and the opportunities He put in our paths.
