How I first fell in love with Zusak. So much humor and a great mystery.

Fantastic story about someone totally ordinary performing extraordinary acts to make the lives of those around him a bit better. If you are a fan of the idea of random acts of kindness, how acts both big and small can make a real difference in people then you will LOVE this book.

Definately one of my favourite books

This book was very different from what I was expected, but I enjoyed it. At first I was distracted by the heavily metaphorical language, when the character is clearly not overly educated or the kind of person who would talk in that way. But I got used to it, and I found the story line of the people he meets and the challenges he faces to be interesting. The book lost a star at the end, though, for a thoroughly disappointing ending.

Fell very short of The Book Thief. It was an ok story but kind of slow paced.

one of the most amazing books ever
i loved it

Soooo good, funny, sad, uplifting, and hopeful in a down-to-earth sort of style. This author is amazing!
adventurous hopeful mysterious medium-paced

Such an interesting and strange premise, a bit like a puppeteer pulling the strings of someone's life without them understanding what and why. This felt similar to The Midnight Library in that it is meant to feel very profound at the end, and I don't generally enjoy that. That wasn't until the very end tho, so mostly this was mysterious and intriguing.

Wow. I don't have words for this book. It beautiful in so many ways. Read it, not only for a story, but to have something for your mind to chew on.
