I really struggled with this. Something about the writing just didn't work for me. Maybe being told from a different perspective would have helped. Saffron just seemed too dense.

Loved that this was a mystery surrounding science and told from the female perspective in the 1920s. Ready for the next book!

3.5 rounded up to 4 stars because of great audio narration, great pacing, and an interesting concept. I like it enough to want to read the other books in the series. This wasn’t anything earth-shattering, but it was a well-executed historical murder mystery with a touch of romance…right up my alley.

I liked this 3.5 stars worth but not enough to round up to 4. Fairly good pacing, but definitely felt like a debut novel. Kind of like modern day New Adult characters placed in a 1923 timeframe. A cozy mystery where nothing really bad happens. The threat is hinted at but doesn’t actually happen and everything turns out ok.
