Great story. Off to a fast start, and well paced throughout. Stephen King always has a way of sucking you into the story and making a book the size of a brick go by quickly and without much fluff. Loved it.

Firestarter is a captivating and emotional story that really struck a chord with me. Charlie, a seemingly ordinary kid with an extraordinary power, takes you on a journey that's both moving and heartbreaking. Despite her immense abilities, it's heartening to see that she remains connected to her father and shows compassion towards animals. In the final scenes, when Charlie unleashes her power, the intensity and destruction are described with incredible detail. What stood out to me was the importance of her practicing her abilities; it added a layer of depth to the narrative, showing the consequences of neglecting her powers.

"It’s gonna be all right,” he told her, not really believing it, knowing as every adult knows in his secret heart that nothing is really all right, ever. “It’s gonna be all right."

Not my favorite King book, I read this after IT so it was honestly a bit of a let down. I think I also expected more action and not as much of Rainbird and Andy thinking. It’s also annoying that in a book called Firestarter, the firestarter herself barely gets the mic. Not a bad read by any means, but a bit tedious at points.
