The actual murder, though teased in the prologue, only happens right at the end of the book.
It’s not all that mysterious, and I found several threads of the mystery predictable. The setting/concept is original and drew me in, but the plot content is not original. The characters are not well-developed and lack dimension.

Disappointing ending that doesn’t make logical sense but enjoyable murder mystery

Fun! This feels like a classic murder mystery, a la Agatha Christie or Murder She Wrote. I love a “locked room” set-up, the baking show premise is delightful, and the characters were interesting. The story was pretty predictable at times, and there were certain things that could have been better developed, but overall I really enjoyed reading this.

I honestly just thought a lot of the twists were predictable
when Lottie talks about the dad for example, and how he looked at her, I thought he was her father. And how did she not even wonder when she found the picture of him with her mom? I just found it so obvious. Same with Lottie not realizing Betsy was stealing her mom’s recipes. As soon as they found the box, I thought it was so obvious
. I also found it focused too much on the baking for my taste… it was like reading the Great British Bake Off which isn’t the same as seeing the bakes visually, and it took about 70% into the book to really get into the plot. Also some of the character attributes were pretty cliche. Many of them seemed to portray a different flaw but only that flaw, which I found cliche. Also just not my favorite writing style. Still, it kept me turning the pages.

The book started great, and I mean that the first chapter had every element for a great thriller but unfortunately the rest was not good. First of all this is not a thriller or a cozy mystery i don't even know what it is tbh maybe a fanfic about baking cuz all it talks about is the competition and the baking that's all and i know it's about getting to know the characters and to add suspense but the characters all felt flat and flawed (not in a good way) to me and it just dragged. In the first chapter we see that someone is dead but then nothing happens until the like %80 mark and then the ending is so rushed also the "mysteries" are so predictable. In addition to ending up being rushed, the conclusion made no sense and just left me with more questions it was just poorly written and not great thought i think. Also there is one thing that really bugs me is that a man uses a woamn for a one night stand and she gets heartbroken but then suddenly it is grooming by someone who she fell in love with ? i thought
Hannah was just using Archie to further her career
did i missed something
