Slow Burn Summer

This was such a fun read about an actress hired to play the role of author of a book, in place of a very famous author who is publishing something that feels too personal to put their own name on. The talent agent who is the go between is also in a tricky spot: trying to carve his own path and fill his father’s shoes. It was quite funny and poignant and I really enjoyed it. Would recommend!

Slow Burn Summer definitely delivers on the slow - this was a sweet but snail-paced love story. It was a lot of half-starts and so the burn was constantly doused by inaction or avoidance of the romantic interests in favor of preserving the work relationship and contract responsibilities. It was an enjoyable read and I sort of enjoyed the languid storytelling that veered off on various tangents. I went into this book expecting this so it felt sweet and not dull.

This book lacked some of the fire between the characters that I have loved in her past books - I don't mind a slow burn but I still want the fire at some point and this one was only slightly firey!

Very slow and dry book. I know it’s a slow burn but it didn’t feel like it. Felt like they said “I love you” out of nowhere.
FMC is kinda dumb for sharing confidential info over a freaking email. Like wth dude. Also the trifle dude incident didn’t make sense to me. Not romantic at all??

There were elements I enjoyed in this book but the ending fell a bit flat for me with the outlandishness of the entire trifle plot line. I enjoyed the authors other works more, but would try her again.
