Audio (fantastic narrator)-This is not a book I would normally pick up to read. I did because it was book of the month on Amazon. I was looking for something new-Why not right ? I am not going to dismiss Amazon's picks anymore. this book was excellent. I was on the edge of my seat on every page. Thrilling, spiraling, heart breaking, nerve racking and sweet, it never let me down. The there was the mystery, I thought I had who did it, but no it had to be, no, no it was ???? LOL
The dead man that started the whole mess, was really a turdbasket, He needed to die. The more we learned about him the worse he got. His death started this whole flood gate of murderous schemes, greedy takers and unlawful acts.
I have read that some found it too detailed in the anatomist descriptions, I did not find it so. I enjoyed the reasoning and the why's behind the deaths, It is a wonderful historical fiction and takes you back to an earlier time.

This was a fun book! Quick plot, lots of twists. The end seemed to be a little forced. I definitely didn't see it coming.

Well written, but this book contains maybe the least compelling heroine and hero in the last 15 years. I'm hoping that if this becomes a series, she works these kinks out. Thomas silkstone was sort of boring and wishy washy when he had major potential as a protagonist. He got beaten up, framed, and accused of adultery and just sort of wandered back to drool over his damsel in distress. Speaking of, Lady Lydia was married, unavailable, but very blasé about having an affair with Thomas. Overall, a good mystery, but the characters need a lot more building.

Very descriptive about the autopsies, but if you have a strong stomach, you are sure to love this book. It's a mystery with lots of twists and turns to keep you guessing!

I wanted to like this book. I really did. A historical fiction murder mystery? Sounds sweet! A young doctor trying his hardest to use the newest scientific breakthroughs to find out how someone died? Awesome! But this book was confusing, and dragged on and on ( I started it back in March!). I didn't connect with any of the characters, the story was needlessly convoluted, and the "historical" aspect of the book jumped around so much that I had no idea what time period it was actually supposed to be in. I really struggled to finish this one.

A light, fluffy, quick read. It probably should be 2 3/4 stars.
