Format was intriguing, I was invested in most of the characters early on. Lost it a little for me about two thirds through but redeemed itself with the ending!

I really need to learn that when I start a Dani Atkins book I don't want to stop reading it until I've reached the end. This wasn't perfect, I guessed several of the plot twists, though the end of The Ending really took me by surprise - the author played a blinder with that one and I'm so very glad that I didn't skip to the end on those occasions when I was rather tempted to.
The story was so well constructed and I loved how just when I thought I knew who Emma would choose she threw something into the mix that made me second-guess myself. The book and the gallery tour, the chemistry with Jack, all helped confuse and befuddle my poor little heart. I firmly expected to be either TeamRichard or TeamJack, and at different times in the story I was definitely more on one side than another, but both were good men who clearly cared deeply for Emma.
Whilst there were a couple of very cliched moments (I recall there being one, in particular, I was going to mention in my review but now I've forgotten it) they weren't enough to spoil my enjoyment of this wonderful story. Dani Atkin's books have the ability to make me feel all the emotions and this one was no different. It is a beautiful story, gentle, powerful, passionate, heartbreaking and wonderful and I really can't wait to read more by this author.

Ok I feel I have to give you a warning before you read this book. Do not start it when you have somewhere to go. I was crying within the first few pages and I was sitting on the bus on the way to work. Not a good look let me tell you.
The story starts off at Emma's hen do. She's due to marry Richard, her childhood sweat-heart, in two weeks. Unfortunately, the night it does not end on a happy note. The three girls end up in car accident and in comes gorgeous Jack.
Emma is pretty cool ( I mean we share the same name she had to be right). I instantly identified with her. I was crying when she was crying (which was a lot). I really felt for everything she had given up to be there for her family.
I didn't really like Richard. I found that he just took Emma for granted. I think he always thought they would end up together. He was also pretty rude to Jack when he had just saved his fiancée's life.
Jack on the other hand I LOVED. He was sweet, kind and oh so heroic. swooon.
I loved Caro and Amy. I had a feeling about what would happen to Amy and I guessed what she was thanking her for pretty early on.
This was a very moving, loving story I don't want to ruin anything for anyone but just keep some tissues with you at all times while reading this book.
I would definitely recommend both books by this author to everyone.

Bit disappointed, after having really enjoyed Fractured, to have found this was a (less interesting, more stereotypically 'chic fic') variant of the story I'd already enjoyed.

Die ersten zwei Drittel des Buches haben mir überaus gut gefallen aber leider wurde daraus gegen Ende des Buches eine hollywoodreife Liebesgeschichte, die sowohl vorhersehbar als auch viel zu kitschig war. Es kam mir so vor, als hätte die Autorin die Geschichte zwischen Emma und ihrem Herzblatt schön spannend und emotional aufgebaut, nur um sie dann relativ abrupt zu Ende zu bringen und 40 Jahre vorzuspulen. Das erste Buch von Atkins -Die Achse meine Welt- war so gut, dass meine Erwartungen an dieses Werk hier mindestens genauso hoch waren aber leider nicht erfüllt wurden. Trotzdem ein schönes Buch und ich freue mich schon auf das nächste Buch von ihr

Ich habe mich so über dieses Buch gefreut! Endlich wieder eines von Dani Atkins! Das Cover finde ich richtig schön und war vom Klappentext so begeistert, dass ich es kaum abwarten konnte mit dem Lesen zu beginnen.
Die Geschichte beginnt richtig spannend und man ist sofort im Geschehen. Emma und ihre Freundinnen nehmen einen gleich mit auf Emmas Jungeselinnen Abschied. Vom fröhlichen Geplänkel wird es aber schnell bitterer Ernst.
Denn die Freundinnen geraten in einen Unfall. Ein Unfall, der Emmas Leben komplett auf den Kopf stellt und alles aus den Fugen gerät.
Doch durch diesen Unfall lernt Sie Jack kennen. Jack, ihr persönlicher Held. Jack, der eigentlich Tabu sein sollte, denn Emma hat Richard. Richard ihr Verlobter, der in dieser Nacht ebenfalls seinen Jungesselen Abschied feiert.
Schnell wird einem klar, dass dies keine leichte Story wird. Es sind viele Gefühle im Spiel - viele durchgewirbelte Gefühle und viel Schmerz.
"Manchmal ist der Schmerz einfach zu gross, um ihn in Worte zu fassen. Dann hilft nichts anderes mehr, als sich an jemandem festzuhalten, den man liebt, bis sich der Schmerz nicht mehr anfühlt, als wollte er einem das Herz aus der Brust reissen." - S. 73

Amy's Tod reisst Emma fast auseinander. Doch anstatt, das ihr Richard zur Seite steht hat er ganz eigenen Kummer zu verarbeiten. Und so fällt sie regelrecht in die Arme von Jack.
Anfangs war mir Richard gar nicht sympathisch und ich wusste das irgendwas an ihm nicht stimmte.
Was nicht stimmt - erfährt man ziemlich bald.
"Laut Definition bedeutet Verlust, etwas nicht mehr zu haben, weil es einem genommen oder weil es zerstört wurde. Das trifft es wohl ziemlich genau." S. 104
Ab der Hälfte des Buches war ich dann auch total Team Jack und fand das er viel besser zu Emma passt. Doch diese Meinung ändert sich gegen Ende des Buches und ich fange an Richard zu verzeihen und mich wieder mehr auf seine Seite zu schlagen.
Genau wie Emma war auch ich in einem Hin und Her Strudel. Doch obwohl mir Emma von Anfang an sehr sympathisch war, wirkt ihr Charakter gegen Ende doch sehr naiv.
Der Schreibstil von Dani Atkins konnte mich auch hier wieder überzeugen. Sie schreibt flüssig und schafft es einen mit dem Geschriebenen ins Buch zu ziehen.

Die Geschichte an sich war zwar richtig gut erzählt aber doch sehr vorhersehbar. Der "Skandal" konnte mich nicht wirklich überraschen, da ich dies schon sehr früh ahnte und auch andere Stellen waren für mich viel klarer als für Emma.
An sich eine tolle Geschichte - doch leider konnte sie mich nicht zu 100% überzeugen und das Ende, obwohl unerwartet, wirkte mir zu künstlich und zu kitschig.
