I really hope this gets better. I'm getting burnt out on some of these plots.

In the first half of this volume the group set out to cross off an item from Beatrix's list, becoming shokoku pilgrims and completing the pilgrimage to all 88 temples on foot and observing its 10 tenants. Very informative look on something I knew nothing about and kudos to the creators for actually finishing it and listing all 88 temples, likewise the story is paralleled with a group of survivors who are taking what they want from others and a member has a backstory on how he ended up that way. The second half, after being really light and meaningful just goes pure horny. The group get invited on a cruise ship where survivors just have orgies all the time, though I do love the relationship actually progressing between Akira and Shizuka in a sweet way.

Back in Volume 5 or so, the author set out to show that just because you have a "tragic backstory" doesn't always mean that the audience will sympathize with that character.
In this one, he does the opposite, ie a tragic-flashback-for-bad-guy-character, just to prove that he can, in fact, write one. And while she could just be caught up in the Buddhist pilgrimage fervor, our resident German weeeaboo shows us how good a heart she has by looking past the meanness and gives her kidnapper a 2nd chance.
...
THE REST OF THE BOOK IS NOW SHELVED UNDER "I CAN'T BELIEVE IT'S NOT HENTAI!"
GOOD GAWD ALMIGHTY! THE LEWDNESS ESCALATED LIKE A ROCKET!
