Excellent as always. Excited to see which direction Ballard goes if there's another book in the works.

I love these characters and this was very exciting. It really deals with the George Floyd murder impact on police attitudes and behavior. Will Renee stay with the LAPD or go to work with Harry full-time? After solving two different crimes basically with only Bosch to help, she is exhausted and one. I look forward to the next one!

Always a fan of Ballard and Bosch!

Two cases, both equally dark. One involving serial rapists, “The Midnight Men” and the second, a homicide on New Years Day involving the Las Palmas 13 gang.

There’s a bit of a political and real-worldliness this book, in the midst of C*vid and the defund the police campaign.

We see a very cynical side of Ballard as she navigates both of these mysteries and determining there’s a corrupt former LAPD officer involved in one of the cases. Due to this she teams up now retired Detective Harry Bosch as he’s the only one she can trust.

The Dark Hours is akin to The Late Show, and relates to Ballard’s preference of work. It was extremely well plotted, engaging and covered heavy topics like violence against women, and gang related violence. Another great book by Connelly!

TW: gang violence, gangs, violence against women, rape.
