This was really sweet! They felt like realistic high school students. My one thing was the college application process felt slightly off and the timeline of the epilogue confused me. But it was great to see their relationship develop.

Dudes, I ate this shit up like I was on death row. Of the reading journey so far, this, this right here is PEAK. It’s not a 5 star but it was damn close. The plot, the characters, the romance. Chief’s kiss. Maybe it’s because I am a STEM major, but man do I love any incorporation of it in silly little love stories. Catch me kicking my feet and giggling for four hours of my life.

I absolutely adored Bel and Teo. They were both such complex characters that meshed together so perfectly. I was so glad to have a head-strong female lead like Bel (WOMAN IN STEM‼️). It was so nice to see her take charge of her own life and lead herself down a path she genuinely wanted for herself and not what the other people in her life pushed for her. It was truly inspiring, I love her spunk! Teo surprised me, I originally thought he was going to be like the vast majority of male leads, lowkey a dick, pretentious and all the above (you see the picture) but I was so pleasantly surprised at how he was so in touch with himself and his emotion. It is so refreshing to have a Hero who is open about struggles and a true person to the Heroine from the start. We didn’t have to struggle to peel this hard outer shell to get to him and that’s totally rad, I dig it. In the end, they understood each other’s struggles and learned different life lessons from the other. It is like the perfect balance. They were such a cute couple, there was nothing I could complain about reading this through my rose tinted glasses. my enjoyment:

my mechanical romance is genuinely one of the best ya romance books i've read in a while. though it didn't top my favorite olivie book (alone with you in the ether), it still stands on its own. i LOVED the characters. bel is amazing and i would break a neck for her if she wanted me to, teo reminds me (a little bit too much) of my high school crush, and i truly deeply love them both. their individual stories are not exactly new but it is still told with utmost care. the filipino rep made me so SO happy. i've never really thought of seeking it out and now that i've read it, im just now realizing how badly i wanted to see my own culture reflected back at me :( anyway, i love u olivie. my five stars will always be happily offered to you <3

This book was very cute and I loved the feminist undertones throughout. I loved the robot building and mechanical side of the story too, very enjoyable.

“…and because this, whatever it is with her, is the only thing i ever do that’s easy.

because wherever i am, i want her close by.”

~ ♡ 4.75/5

i genuinely loved this book so much i have no words. i was giggling and kicking my feet the whole time.

teo remembering her outfits and where she wore them. and even remembering the small little things she said. when he didn’t even classify themselves as “friends.” ahhh swoon.

academic rivals to lovers is everything to me.

the only reason this didn’t get a full five stars was because i really don’t like the third act breakup.

also go women in stem wooo !!
