A tale set in the early 60s, reminiscient of Stephen King's "Stand by Me." The thread binding "Boy's Life" together is the mystery surrounding the dead man in Saxon's Lake. Who killed him and why? But, this novel is so much more - it is the memories of a boy's childhood - some good and some not. This novel will make you laugh, it will bring you to tears and it will make you think. Spending some time in the town of Zephyr and mingling with it's inhabitants is well worth your time.

Probably in my top 3 favorite books of all time. I went into it thinking it was horror but it’s not at all. Definitely more of a small town southern coming of age story.
Each chapter is almost its own little story but there’s an overarching mystery that progresses within those. It reminds me of the movie Big Fish both in the mini-stories-within-a-larger-story way of story telling & in the slight fantasy vibes.
The writing is immaculate, the characters are so lovable, it’s funny, it’s sad, it’s mysterious. I didn’t want it to end. Just read it if you’re on the fence.
