What a sensational book! Very hard to pin down to one genre...a sort of rollicking horror adventure whodunit on the high seas. Loved it!

This book sucks you right in with the mystery. You’ll love the characters of Arent, Sara, Sammy and more! This mystery takes on a will of its own. Even when you celebrate figuring it out, there is a twist or two headed your way. This was by far my favorite Turton book.

This is a good murder/mystery book which is set in the 17th century, where the characters are on board a ship called the Saardam which is going to Amsterdam. The main characters are called Sara and Arent and they have to solve the mystery of Old Tom, who is said to be a demon. I found the story interesting, I liked the characters and the writing was very good.

The big reveal at the end of this mystery left me disappointed. It wasn't as interesting an explanation as I'd hoped. The story wrapped up too neatly post-reveal, to the point where it felt unrealistic given the situation.
