Liked the romance part, but the jumping timelines was clunky for me and I didn’t care about the side stories. The chemistry wasn’t there enough for me.

This book takes place in both the past and what they consider current day (2021). It is told using dual POV, so you get chapters from both Izzy and Nathaniel's view points. Izzy and Nathaniel meet on a plane, and seem instantly connected, until 90 seconds after the plane takes off, it crashes into the Missouri River. Even though they make it to shore together, they end up separated at the hospital, as Izzy is in surgery and then headed for college, and Nathaniel is headed for the US Army. Fate keeps randomly pulling the two of them back together over the next ten years, until they both end up in Afghanistan during Taliban takeover. Nathaniel will do anything to make sure Izzy makes it out of there alive. I enjoyed the book well enough. I do think it could have been a tiny bit shorter.

I didnt care for this book. I feel like Yarros is normally better about writing about war heros but this one fell sooooo flat.
