A soft, emotional read. It threw me back to when my husband and I first met the summer we graduated, and he enlisted. The on and off, are we - aren't we is so real in this scenario, the uncertainty from both parties to commit to this deeply challenging life choice. The fear of will he be here this time and will be come home. Do we have to reschedule? The heartache building up resilience to love someone in the service, and strength of the service member to return home. The chemistry between the two is electric, and made for a beautiful storying of growing together. I found myself rooting for them.

I loved the characters. The story was riveting. I was anxious and my heart was heavy. I needed the next chapter and the next part of the puzzle.
spice 2/5
This book started out interesting but as I read through I found myself losing interest. I struggled to finish the book. The characters were bland and while I understand their connection with one another after the tragedy, I can’t understand why they are seemingly obsessed with each other. Overall, the romance and the story felt lackluster to me.

Overall, I really enjoy Rebecca Yarros’s writing. This was a very heavy romance. It involves PTSD and mental health issues. I think she does a great job with it. This book does involve a plane crash and mental health issues that stem from active duty military. If those things trigger you, do not pick this up. Otherwise, I found it to be a very good book.
The FMC was incredibly annoying. Couldn’t stand her.
