Both boys seem good candidates to me. They both encourage Lara Jean to try new things, although only one of them succeeds.
It is not my first book of youth romance but the first one where I have begun to ship the couple. But I must say that the main love interest knows how to be unpleasant when he wants, as well as selfish or superficial. Which shines the moments where he is kind and more mature.
I liked how Lara Jean's relationships with her sisters are explored, especially at the end. I also liked how the character of Lara Jean is someone who has never had a couple out of fear, I identify, and is someone who is not used to parties or to be popular but begins to change after that deal.
The end seems a bit very dramatic, with everything that happened with Margo, but I really enjoyed the experience; especially when my love / hate relationship with the couple began.

I read this after having seen the movie and I was hoping to get more depth in the story that often gets cut when movie adaptations are made. But there is no addition depth here, it's just like the movie with insignificant details of difference.
The story overall lacks emotion that is meaningful. The characters have zero problems in their lives, even the fact that Lara Jean's mother unexpectedly passed away is mostly glanced over. It makes it so that the story provides nothing for young readers of substance and lacks connection to many aspects of society.
That being said, it was engaging as a cute love story but it will not stick with me and it fell very flat.

I bought this book at GoodWill and decided to relive my middle school days when I was obsessed with these books. I remember hating Peter and being obsessed with Josh and hoping he was the one Lara Jean ended up with. Now, I actually really enjoyed Peter’s character and I’m excited to reread the second book. I will say, though, a book has never made me want sisters while also simultaneously making me not want them. The Song sisters have a very beautiful relationship, but I often found Margot insufferable, especially at the end. I understand that her overprotective-ness stemmed from the lack of a mother figure in the girls’ lives, but I found that she was way too invested in what Lara Jean decided to do with her life and was very hypocritical towards her. She wasn’t always supportive of Lara Jean and she honestly really got in my nerves this time around. I do really enjoy Kitty, though, and I think she added a lot of fun to the book.
Innocent YA romance that puts sisterhood at the center of the story.
