A really great start to the Three Sisters Island series. I always enjoy the combination of contemporary romance and magic that Nora Roberts creates. I wouldn't say this was my favorite from her but I enjoyed it just the same. Nell is on the run and has found sanctuary on Three Sisters Island. She keeps her head down working at the cafe in the local bookshop and slowly but surely her strength comes out. That doesn't mean that she doesn't have flashbacks especially when interacting with hunky local sheriff, Zack. But finding her way with him, finding love again, is something that helps her grow as well. When her past catches up to her will Zack and Nell be able to keep her safe with all her new found strength or will she beaten down again? Great read and I'm excited to continue the series!

I'm not generally a reader of Nora Roberts, but this was a fast, pleasant read.

So many abuse red flags in this book and the story just wasn’t well done. No clue why anyone would read book two or three because I have no idea what they would even be about.

Sweet and bland. I wasn't particularly drawn into the abuse, witchcraft, starting a business, or romance storyline. With so much going on, it felt shallow all over.
And I'm getting tired of reading trilogies with the same three women.
Still enjoyable, decent writing - set in a fanciful, peaceful background.

I liked the main characters Nell and Zach. Really didn't like Ripley and apparently the second book is hers so we'll see how that goes.
Light, fluffy and an easy read.

I think the setting was the best part of this story and although I wasn't immediately sucked in, by the middle I was hooked. Might have to pick up the next two books in the trilogy soon!
