I read this in a night after a friend recommended it to me. At first I wasn’t quite sure if I liked the writing style, but it grew on me and I couldn’t put the book down. I loved both Dante and Aristotle, as well as their parents. And Legs, the dog!

uni library is such a legend for the books its got on the libby app for pride month
this was a really quick easy read but i feel it was a little overhyped imo but the last 100 pages had me in a chokehold
think the mix of short chapters and long chapters was a little confusing at times but overall a solid read
character driven books >>>

This book may be categorized teen, but don't let that fool you. It's a wonderful and heartfelt look into identity, familial bonds, and friendship that can be appreciated at any age. All of the characters have distinct voices and development arcs which was refreshing. If you have a hard time following dialogue heavy narration, it might not be for you. The book lacks some visual world and scene building, and it instead focuses on the building of characters.

What a beautiful story about a lonely boy who doesn't want to admit they are lonely and hurting until one person in your life comes and changes you for the better.
I can relate to Ari and how he sees himself and the people around him and the pain it can cause yourself and others when you don't talk even though that is the last thing you want to do. I love how this is written like poetry it makes the story and the streams of thought that Ari has flow so smoothly that you fly through reading it. It feels like you are getting vignettes or moments in Ari's life and are not following his every day but you never feel lost and unclear of the timeline.
I am happy that I decided to re-read this book because I have found a surge of love for this story and the characters in it. The first time I read it I remember loving it but now reading it again I understand why I enjoyed this book that much. I learned more about myself and grew. I saw that similar journey through Ari and I was able to recognize it now more than I did in the past.

I read the audiobook and loved hearing Lin Manuel Miranda narrate it. It also made me smile when he talked about having homework about Alexander Hamilton 💛 but anyway. Such a beautiful, heartfelt coming of age story. I enjoyed it a lot. One of the best books I read so far this year.
