When I'm trying to find a new piece of young-adult escapism to enjoy, I sometimes struggle with finding something I'm going to enjoy. This book was a Christmas gift from a lovely friend (and my housemate then saw it on my shelf and reiterated that it was amazing), and I completely agree with their opinions. Aristotle and Dante are simply lovely: they are complex, real characters suffering beautifully-depicted emotions and the turmoils of self-discovery. The familial relationships are overall positive, but Saenz doesn't make it unrealistic - the relationships become healthier as the Mendozas put aside their issues. Dante doesn't define Aristotle's life in the way some other young-adult romance books are; he is just a beautiful part of it. It is not a love story - it is a life story, and a stunning one at that.

I found the story so engaging with some unexpected twists that managed to leave me speechless. The characters were very enjoyable and it’s thrilling seeing them discover themselves and others

Okay. Where to start.

Love the friends to lovers trope!

I really enjoyed this book and I think I’ve come to terms with me just being an emotionless rock. I did not cry. That’s that. Everyone said I’d be emotionally damaged. I was not.

Anyway it was a really good book.
I loved the characters and I loved it overall.

Do I love that the author is a turf and is probably in other ways. No. Am I going to look past that. Yes.

Anyway. Read it.

It’s books like this that keep me reading YA. It’s not my favourite genre but then I come across loveable characters. I read this for a prompt but I will read the second one anyway.

I am so in love with this book words literally cannot express how much I absolutely adored this book. Aristotle and Dante’s relationship was beautiful and heartbreaking and so relatable and I am immediately going to devour the sequel because I need more from these boys I love them so much and honestly I don’t even care that I had some critiques of this book because they are just the perfect couple & I just loved how their relationship was based on their emotional connection and showed how their relationship evolved throughout the years. Such a beautiful  read. 😭❤️
