I mulled over this one for a little bit to try and gather all of my thoughts. I'm always when it comes to well-reviewed content, and everyone I know absolutely raved about this book, saying it changed their lives and described feelings they had in ways they never could and how this book was sent from God himself basically. I was absolutely terrified that reading those reviews had set my expectations too high and I would inevitably be let down.
I finished the book about a week ago and I still can't decide if I was let down or not. It was certainly a fantastic book, though it took me a long while to see that. The first 2/3 of it, to me at least, read like a journal. Besides one or two events, the book was just the detailing of a fairly average high school boy's life. There was family drama and friend drama and girl drama, but nothing in it stood out to me as the awe-inspiring story that my friends adored. By the end of the book, I could kinda see where everyone was coming from, but it just didn't have the same effect on me. As a straight, white girl who hasn't dealt with nearly any of the things Ari and Dante do, it was just harder for me to relate I guess. It was fascinating to me to read from Ari's point of view about the things he was going through, and hopefully it can help me to better relate to people and understand them, but for me it did not have the same ground-breaking result.
I'd absolutely still recommend this book. It was a fairly quick read and definitely an interesting story, just try not to go into it with many expectations.

I feel in love with this book from the beginning, and found the layout of chapters different from most every book I've read, but I really enjoyed it. How the characters develop and the twists and turns they go through makes this a very provoking read, I will be re-reading this many MANY times. I found this book online and didn't look much into it, but it definitely met and exceeded my expectations. How the ending unfolded made me melt along with the amazing writing. I hated how it had to end, I wish there was just that little bit more to the ending but that's for the romantic in me talking, the ending was absolutely perfect as it is.

First off I LOVED LOVED LOVED this book. It talks about real life topics through a teenage boys eyes and I think that is super important. Ari tells the story of how he grows and becomes who he is meant to be. It all starts with Dante. It’s such a cute love story and I love how Dante knows who he is and Ari has to take time to figure it out. It’s really a heart warming book and when the two boys feel emotions, you feel them right along with them. The book is just so real and not afraid to bring up sensitive topics. I loved it and honestly would love to read it again.

I paired the final pages with Conan Gray's 'The Story', finishing at the same time. Many tears.

I absolutely loved these 2 characters!!! I have had this on my tbr for a while but put off reading it as i’m not big on contemporary books. However the feels from this book were so strong that I didn’t mind there was no magic. The way these boys care about each other and accept each other is just beautiful and I love the healthy relationships with parents that was really stand out. I will be reading the sequel next month
