Thoroughly enjoyed this swashbuckling adventure. A historical romance featuring lesbian pirates just hits the spot like few other things. Watch out for exciting wrist grazes and ankle sightings!

From the blurb I was expecting something else. I really wanted to like this book, but the writing style is not my thing and the story feels very boring. 193 pages in a no mention of the Ghost Ship and, besides a brief chapter, all the action is still happening in various cities. It feels like the book is a very long premise and the action will come later towards the end.

An excellent third book in The Burning Chambers series. Well researched and quality writing, great pacing and excellent storyline keeps you turning the pages. Highly recommended

Highly enjoyable, exactly what you would expect from a Kate Mosse novel: a solid historical fiction with strong female characters, a page-turning adventure, and a touch of romance (LGBTQ+ this time!).

The only thing that really took me out of the story is the butchered dutch pronunciation in the audiobook... And then I learned from the acknowledgements there was actually a Dutch speaker advising on this!
