I wanted to like this book a lot more, and I even think the story is pretty fine, but just couldn't really get into it. I never much wanted to pick it up to listen and didn't find the writing overall engaging so whenever I tuned in to listen to it, I had the attitude of more of a chore than something I actually wanted keeping me company on my lunch break. In an effort to be less strict with myself and my tendency to power through regardless, I am just going to let this one's rent run out and not fight too hard to keep it. Maybe in the future I'll return to it, but for now, I think I'll find other uses of my time.
BUT, if this was a film directed by Guillmuero Del Toro, I think it would absolutely slap.
