I flew through this book, it was such a fast paced read in the best of ways! It didn’t move along how I expected to at all either, which was really refreshing.

The characters in this were all great, each having the screen time they deserved, and enough of it for us to get to know them - I especially liked Simon 💀 I’m a sucker for anything with gentle romance in </3

Rating it 4.5 and not higher as the ending was a little flat for me… 🌱

It just feels kind of pointless. The author had a great idea and kept starting down potentially amazing paths and then… just… not? Too many ideas with too little exploration into any of them.

A botanical daughter is a simple  work.

Theres no subliminal story-crafting. There’s no grand mystery. There’s no boiling tension. There’s no burn. Characters are too consistently  simple to call it character-driven. Character behavior is manipulated to serve the direction of the story in somewhat unconvincing ways, but at the same time, it can’t really even be called plot-driven.

A perfectly pleasant light read, it’s all greens and no meat.

Atmospheric as hell and left me questioning some of my own takes on morality. Recommend for folks who like a slower, rambling sort of horror/scifi.
