I really liked the concept of the book as well as the writing style, but found the stagnation of the characters to be very frustrating. Gregor and Simon's constant flip-flopping of how they felt about CHLOE felt somewhat unnatural and more like a tool of plot-furthering than actual character development. I think there was a lot more that could have been done with this concept in terms of horror and exploring what it means to be human. I did very much enjoy reading this book, however!

Beautiful and grotesque. The vibe gives Victorian gothic. Very clever parallels between characters and their relationships. An inspiring story of what it means to be a family, and what it means to be in love. Excellent writing - evocative, emotional and academic! My favourite read of the year so far.
