I respect Medlock going out on a limb here with how weird this was, but this book just did not captivate me. It was a real struggle to finish,

and not even a late-stage murder spree or plant sex could make it engaging.

I overall really enjoyed this story. I listened to the audio book and didn't loooove the voices for some of the characters but it didn't ruin the experience for me either.

If you like a Frankenstein style novel, you're off to a great start for this one. I honestly didn't get the horror as much as I wished but it was unsettling regardless.

I love the look at gay characters and found family (even though kind of toxic) in the victorian Era as well. The themes in this book are right at home with other Sapphic horror novels I've read as well.

The aestheric was incredible and I'd read/listen to another work by this author for sure.

I really want to give this a higher rating because there's plenty to like, but it felt much slower than it actually was for some reason.

Gregor felt really inconsistent towards the end, which was pretty distracting.
