This was exactly the right level of "spice" for me: not too explicit with descriptions for my ace brain & didn't feel like porn. Very sweet couple
the way they both save each other and have complementary childhood trauma
. Felt very late bloomer coming-of-age to me which I loved. I really identified with Charlotte 💙

This was super cute and honestly hysterical! I am not the biggest fan of anything regency/historical in nature and the worldbuilding/magic system was a little silly to me, but I loved the romance and the main characters and the funny dialogue. It was a refreshing read and quite different from my usual books so I had a good time!

I chose 'it's complicated' for character diversity, because while the cast is mostly white, the MC has some traits that make me feel she *could* be coded autistic or neurodivergent in some way? (Scripting based on fictional characters, planning scenarios and being at a loss when she doesn't have a script, socially mimicking others/trying to mask, being told she's too sensitive her whole life and carrying deep shame around who she is, not having any friends or social relationships, impatience and anger outbursts). Other aspects of diversity would be a wide scope of ages and the male MC has childhood trauma that causes intense flashbacks and dissociation from reality.

Just like the first book in this series, this book is indescribably fucking BONKERS in the best possible way. I loved how delightfully insane it was so much I didnt even care that its lowkey Han and Leia fan fiction. Witches and pirates in Victorian England battling it out over a magical artifact. I'm not going to say more because it's kind of impossible to do so without spoilers just read it and if you have even a shred of whimsy within you I promise you will be enchanted.

A fun romcom between a high-society witch and a magical pirate. Having pirates who fly houses instead of ships with their magic was interesting world-building. However, I felt like I didn't fully understand the world but that might be since this is technically the second book. The characters weren't super intriguing but having an uppity witch and a rake pirate was fun. Once they got together the plot was sorta boring though.

What an absolute delight! This was so much more fun now that I’m actually familiar with the world and series style — there’s no plot, it’s just action. And I’m here for it! I adored the characters, the quirky little details, and the swoon-worthy romance. It all somehow comes together into one non-stop romantic adventure. A perfect way to jump start my fall reading!

The first book in this series was captivating, but sadly the plot of this sequel didn’t quite live up the the dazzling debut. I found it difficult to stay interested in the amulet chase, but there were still moments that drew me back in. I will definitely continue reading anything Holton publishes because of her unique wit and humor.

I had a good time reading this! Victorian England with some added magic, the lives of ladies. I read it as a stand-alone even though it’s the second book in a series, so I was a little confused about the intracies of magic and witches vs pirates, but I never had to guess who was who, so it didn’t really matter. It was fun and very lighthearted, and the writing was probably my favorite part. I’m hoping to read the first book soon.
