I love murder mysteries, but the combination of the murder mystery with the speculative fiction aspects and the convoluted rules of whatever game the plague doctor was playing was just too much for me. Maybe I just picked it up at the wrong time, but I couldn't finish it.
I so badly want to enjoy this book. The concept and plot has so much potential. Unfortunately it was just overall confusing and then boring. There is a ton of character and a lot of jumping back and forth which is hard to keep up with. It took me so long to finally get through it and I can’t lie the ending had me hooked but once we figure out who kills Evelyn…disappointment.
Maybe I didn’t enjoy this because it was hard to understand and some things went over my head. I’m not going to say don’t read it. But read with caution in that it’s slightly confusing and full of (in my opinion) unnecessary details.

Big fat DNF. And I finish almost every book I start because it bothers me to leave something unfinished. This book almost actually bored me to tears. I read 250 pages to give it a chance and I just couldn’t keep going…

Avec ce scénario intriguant entre Agatha Christie et Life is Strange (chacun·es ses références) je me suis lancée dans cette lecture intrigante, complexe et avec de nombreux rebondissements. Les "personnages" sont variés et ont chacun leurs caractères propres qui auront une grande influence sur l'histoire. Il est difficile de parler de ce roman sans spoiler, mais il nous embarque dans une histoire pleine de complots, de faux-semblants, de suspects et de mensonges. Bien que n'étant pas exceptionnel, on passe un bon moment lors de la lecture avec une envie de comprendre ces mystères. Les histoires sr les voyages dans le temps sont toujours complexes et il est difficile de ne pas faire d'erreurs dans l'écriture, mais bien que le scénario ne soit pas parfait, l'histoire arrive à nous embarquer dans cette aventure.
