This book is every time travel, murder mystery , and puzzle lover’s dream. The book drops you into the narrative with as much knowledge about the world as our protagonist, and it is a joy to learn the rules and stakes alongside them. I loved how this story was as much a puzzle as it was a book, which I thoroughly enjoyed solving along with Aiden. I found it thrilling to untangle the non-linear timelines and find gaps in the narrative which hinted at the larger plot happening just beyond reach.

The only critiques I have as are that while the ending did not come out of nowhere,
I believe clues could have been seeded throughout the narrative a little more to make the ultimate reveal more satisfying.
I also disliked the amount of fat-phobia present in a portion of the book. Turton’s reasoning for this was that he wanted his “most intelligent character to be limited in some way,” but I think there were other avenues he could have taken that were less fat-phobic.

Overall I found this to be a very enjoyable puzzle to sink my teeth into and I’d love to see more genre-bending storytelling in a similar vein to this.

3.5 stars. Slow to start but picks up near the end. A lot of unnecessary information in my opinion. Otherwise, the premise was interesting!

The book gives you so many red herrings that I felt like starting my own fishery. I was truly confused up until the last of it.
The fact that the killings all happen because Evelyn is a crazy bitch is mildly unsatisfying to me.
Untangling the clues throughout the body hopping really added a layer of confusion and tension to the story that I think really elevated it past a regular run of the mill thriller.

Like Black Mirror meets the time-turner sequence from Harry Potter!
That was a fun, twisty read.
