Delightfully eerie.
I guessed the twist pretty early on, but I really enjoy the atmosphere. Picking up the next one asap.

I'm so sad I didn't like this one more, but it just didn't capture my attention like at all until the very end, so now I'm torn between solving the mysteries vs wasting my time on another book where I don't care about the characters or the romance.

Oh well, Harrow Faire was still a ❤️❤️❤️ series

This book isn't as brilliant as the Harrow Faire series, but I still couldn't put it down.

This was hard to rate as it felt like half a book, rather than the first book of a duology, and I'm also quite anxious about what will happen in the next book, as I wonder if book two will go super dark based on the ominous end to this book... But regardless, this made for an intoxicating and exceedingly unsettling book, perfect for Halloween. I was swept up in Alice's story and felt like I was walking the halls right with her, ready to jump at every slammed door. And though I'm not sure I would have made the same choices had I been in her shoes, I understood her motivations and I bought into the relationship with Charles, toxic arsehole that he was at times. I do love it when a book has me plunging forward, desperate to know what will happen next and this book was so addictive, I'm veeeery curious to see how Alice's story concludes.

i loved the atmosphere and the overall aesthetic of the piece! not sure if ill read the next one, but i enjoyed this one! 3 stars because the plot felt a little thin and i wasn’t the biggest fan of the female MC. and i hated how charles was flippant about certain things and she didn’t find it strange at all — like girl lol i figured out the plot twist BECSUSE I was paying attention
