I started reading this just before going to bed. I ended up reading it in one sitting. I couldn't put it down. The story was so fast paced, that I couldn't help but need to keep going. Every time I thought of reading one more chapter, I would get to the end and feel I had to read more, until I realised I had finished the book!
So much happens in this book, it is impossible to think what my favourite part was. It had humour, heartbreak and violence in perfect quantities.

Ruthless Princess is the first book in the Mafia Royals series. This is a spin-off from the Eagle Elite series. Although it can be read as a standalone, you may get more from reading the previous series.

Serena is the Mafia "princess" and next in line to rule. She was raised with Junior, the son of another mob boss and several other children from other bosses. They were warned never to become involved romantically with each other but how do you choose between your heart or the rules?

Serena and Junior are the next generation of Elites. If you've never read the original Elite series, you might wanna brush up on who's who before you jump into this one because all of the parents make appearances throughout the story plus each of their kids so there's a lot of characters kind of just thrown at you. I admit, I only read a few books from that first series but I was lost in the beginning!

Also, I liked the first half of the book better than the second half. After awhile, it all just seemed too high school bully-ish even though Serena and Junior are college age. But I will say that I loved the chemistry between these two...the forbidden trope is so yummy! I enjoyed the build up, the anticipation of Serena and Junior finally getting to be together.

Originally, I rated this one 3.5 stars but I bumped it up to 4 stars because I absolutely love the cover. It completely represents Serena and the starkness of the black and white colors makes the model look so bad ass which Serena totally was! (Seriously, this chick kicked some major butt!) Told from dual POVs with a happy for now ending. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book.

This is another wild ride in the world of the mafia Eagle Elite! Be prepared for the drama, angst, death and betrayal that it all entails!

This is Serena and Junior's story. Serena is Nixon Abandonato's daughter and heir to the mafia throne. Junior is Phoenix Nicolasi's son and he is arrogant, cold and ruthless at a very young age. They are forbidden to get involved with the other children of the mafia family, but the heart doesn't always go the way planned. You can't choose who you fall in love with. To mask their love and protect each other, Serena and Junior replace love with hate.

Some of the scenes between Junior and Serena when they were alone together were so tender and powerful. You could feel the emotion between them steaming off of the page--even when they supposedly were hating each other. Also, I enjoyed seeing the original Eagle Elite men and Asher and Breaker. Asher's story will break your heart.

I can't give it five stars, (and it must be just me since I see all the numerous five stars), because I felt like some of the violence/fighting between the "family" seemed like a constant/repetitive thing. Less story than fighting. Too much hurt for a family that was supposed to be loyal to each other.

Other than that, this is a fantastic start to a new spin-off Eagle Elite series. I loved the two twirls reminder, too.

Thank you to Valentine PR and Rachel Van Dyken for an advance copy in exchange for my honest review.

This is such an epic forbidden love story of two heirs of mafia families who have rules against being with each other. Holy smokes this book was amazing and by that I mean my favorite book of the year! I have been dying for it for about 2 years since Rachel Van Dyken started talking about it and it did not disappoint.
Serena is totally BA and takes no shit. She does what’s best for the Families and tries to let her hate win until she can’t fight it anymore. Junior, oh Junior, carries the weight of his father’s sins around with him and wants to do what’s best for the Family. He doesn’t want to disappoint anyone but love is love and is so hard to fight.
The banter in this book had me laughing so hard like only Rachel Van Dyken can do in a mafia story with some intense things happening. But along with the hilarious banter I felt all the emotions from laughing to crying and loved every minute of it as we got to experience everything with our favorite mafia Families.
There are so many aspects to this story that just bring back the familiar things from reading the Eagle Elite books but yet if you haven’t read them it gives you a fresh beginning to start with, you just don’t understand some of the things like Bee’s, Junior’s mom, cooking or things like that.

I am going to rant.

What the actual hell was that?

PLOT?? What plot?
There was barely a plot. I mean I was almost done with the book still wondering when the plot will begin.

Characters?
There was no character building at all. I hated how they were suppose to be mafia and killing people but they were super weak in character. Serena could not hide her it when her feelings got hurt by Junior. Junior kept on swearing he won't touch her then 2 min later he went back.
They killed two people in the book and beat up one guy and yet they were super feared by everyone!! Really??

The Romance?
Okay so they craved each other so much they were willing to die for each other I get that. But there was so much smut in the book that you start skipping chapters. Just to know the story. There was no build up at all. It went from "I hate you" to humping and then to "love you". No romance.

The ending.
I was super disappointed in the ending. I think I would have liked it if they died together.
That ending made me want to throw my kindle across the room and never read again.
They made such a big thing about them dying if they were dating and at the end it was fine as long as they really loved each other. Why?

The only reason I gave the book 2 stars is cause I managed to finish it. I kept waiting for it to get good, then it was done.

I recieved an ARC of this from Valentine PR on behalf of the author. My opinion is my own and has not been influenced.

This kept me up to 5am. I loved every minute. I laughed, I cried. I still wanna be Tex Campisi.

But Junior and Serena put me through the ringer. I can't believe Rachel Van Dyken. She's not afraid to go there. In any aspect. She's the queen of Mafia romance. I love this world. I've been in it for years and would happily spend just as many still here.

This is a standalone series that's connected to RVD's Eagle Elite series. You don't have to read that, although I cannot recommend it enough.
This childhood friend to enemies to lovers story is full of passion and emotion. I was sucked in and couldn't sleep until the last word. Even then, I'm already looking for time to reread this.

Blood in. No out.

I don't even want it. What I do want is Breakers story. Right now.

This booooook!!!! I don’t even know where to start! I want more now!!! When I first started reading this book I was like...it’s good so far. Then the more I got into it the more I couldn’t put it down. This was such a rollercoaster of a ride!! I have soooo much to say, but I won’t because I don’t want to ruin nothing for anyone!! All I know is that even though the books in the series are all standalones I want the next one now!!! I have been sucked into this world I don’t want to leave! I have not read the Eagle Elite series, but I will be! Even though you don’t have to read them to read Ruthless Princess I think I would of had a better understanding of their world and why things are the way they are if I had read them first. This book will stick with me for a bit! I would absolutely recommend this book!
