Dnf 32%, chapter 10. This is a terribly written book, with a terrible storyline and terrible characters, which has incest I think? I’m not sure, they’re related but not related, I don’t know and I don’t really care, nothing is explained properly.
Gives a Wattpad vibe, but not the good Wattpad books, the bad, cringey, badly written, insufferable Wattpad books vibe. I CANNOT finish it.

Good gosh. The angst and edge from the main characters was a little out of hand for me.
let me start by saying that in the past week I have read so many books centered around the Mafia or the Bratva. So I am coming from a lot of mafia overload when I am writing this review.
I enjoyed the writing and how smooth it felt and I will be picking up more of Van Dyken's books, However, this book just fell a bit off tangent for me. I loved the idea of the book and the direction of the mafia was different from what I have read in a bit but this one just wasn't it.
Okay, so we have these group of students attending a university that is owned by the mafia. They have all the power and instead of them seeming powerful they just felt like attention-seeking bullies to me. Anyways their parents made they promise not to date or fall in love with each other which was basically to make sure that there is unity and they don't get weakened by the matters of the heart (which honesty is understandable, especially with how movies nowadays want us to believe you can solve everything with a penis). But there is Junior Nicolasi and Serena who have been having sex since they were sixteen but now that the stakes are higher and they are now in university they have suddenly become worse enemies than imaginable.
(Honestly, I don't know how to review this book) I mean one second they are almost killing each other (and I mean that literally) and the next they are having sex. Their back and forth was giving me a whiplash. Long and short of the story was their parents found out and Junior was almost killed but their loved stood strong and the 5 families allowed them to remain in love. Fuck that.
I just want more of Asher's story, I feel Dyken did him dirty. I will not say more than so I don't spoil this book further.

Ruthless Love and a Bitter Princess
Ruthless Love and a Bitter Princess. Rachel Van Dyken doesn't do anything half-way. Ruthless Princess is ruthless on your heart, mind, and soul.
If you've never had the RVD Mafia experience, you found an incredible way to start it. Ruthless Princess is a stand alone in her new series of stand alones. It's a way to get your feet wet. It's a baptism of blood and death. A love so intense you aren't sure you will survive it as the reader. For those that have followed the EE, this is a freaking cherry on a sundae.
Eagle Elite next generation is like learning your favorite series ever is being continued indefinitely. Yeah, I freaked out, yelled, and danced. I also am plotting a way to do an entire EE reread because ending this novel is like losing family all over again.
Every time I finish one of RVD's mafia books, I crave The Family all over again. If they could makes these books into movies (all the Eagle Elite) I would watch them on a permanent loop!
Ruthless Princess gives us the OG Elect and the NG (next generation) in a chess match. Worth dying for...Absolutely. Blood in. No Out.
"Two Twirls" will always catch me in the feels. Now, my jaded mafia loving heart is going to cling to "as long as we both shall live."
Ruthless Princess and her King are going to tear you apart cut by cut. They are going to gouge your eyes, rip sinew from your bones, and make you want the quick death. Their love will destroy even the most hard hearted. Their hate will hurt even more. Because a hate like theirs inspires your heart to do anything for one more minute, one more touch, one more...everything.
Raise your wine glass, shot glass, or in the case of the OGs- your gun, and solute the bravest, dumbest, and best the NG has to offer us...so far! To Serena and her King, Junior DeLange-Nicolasi.

DNF'ed at @60%
Honestly, I was looking forward to the friends-to-lovers-to-enemies-to-lovers trope, but the whole world is ridiculous and makes no sense, and reading the spoiler for book 3 made me not want to continue the series lol
The fact that Serena and Junior's relationship could fall so fast in the prequel just shows how doomed they are (like why would he take it so far?)
And with 60% in nothing really happens, and I skimmed and so things picked up (from what I read about) but not enough for me to continue on. There are better books for me to read. I'll try RVD again with another series.

Ruthless Princess is book one in this new mafia series of the author. I have read other books from the author but sadly, I haven't read those of her mafia ones. There are some connection/ previous characters that was in this book. Being a newbie to her mafia world, I didn't feel lost but in my opinion, it wouldn't hurt to read those previous books for a better reading experience.
The story is dark, raw, steeping in violence, strong family tradition that something you'd come to expect from a mafia book. We have very interesting main characters, even the secondary ones that made me not want to put this down, and begging for more. Highly recommend for lovers of this genre!

I have been in love with the Eagle Elite guys for a long time so when I heard we would get their children's stories in a spinoff I was curious as equally as excited. This book follows the next generation of leaders of the families and they have been raised to protect and be loyal to family first. Serena and Junior find themselves in a predicament because there is a fine line between their hatred and love for one another, but to love each other is a death sentence in the mafia, so they have to keep hating each other to protect each other. These two have to fight to survive and try to navigate a way around feelings that will eventually get them killed by their own family. At times I hated the way things would be going for Junior and Serena, but then I knew there had to be reasons for what was happening. I loved that we got to see the original Elect and see how they are handling letting the reins over to the next generation. I also loved that the familial ties are still there, but none of them will hesitate to do what is necessary to protect family above all else. There were so many twists that I did not see coming and a few times I felt as if my heart was being ripped in two, but the author has a way of helping the reader try to mend their hearts. I love this family and the ride so far with the next group of mafia leaders is an interesting one and I can't wait to see where it takes us. Blood In, No Out.
I Have never read a mafia book. Nor have I read anything of Rachel’s. What drew me in was her beautiful cover. Starting the book I felt a little lost but understand the plot. As I got deeper into the story I couldn’t stop reading and had to find out what happens. I was shocked sad and in disbelief. This book had all the feels. I’m totally okay with how it ended. Serena and junior made one heck of a story. I applaud Rachel this was great it literally kept me wondering what was going to happen page and after page.
