There is one character who is very racist but this character is framed in a negative way, and is expressly shown to be in the wrong. The novel is supposed to be a criquite of british imperialism, decribing the dirty ways of the british empire set against multiple subplots that involve the protagonist/anti hero

the protagonist/anti-hero does commit suicide though it is not described in super graphic detail (describing in detail the process and/or any gore)

i actually thoroughly enjoyed this novel- orwell’s writing is honestly unbeatable. a significantly underrated read in my opinion. the descriptions and motifs in this are stunningly vivid. the pacing was well set and the plot was extremely well set up, weaving in and out and creating  parallels of previous scenes. i just KNOW elizabeth would think it beastly, but for me, an honestly fabulous read. really really loved the climate setting that orwell propped up too. only red flag would be the outright annoying white-saviour complex of the anti-hero’s character (also the derogatory descriptions of the Burmese in some aspects)

Hard to read given the dated (and extremely offensive) language and racial slurs. Plot and characters were not interesting enough to warrant enjoyment. Few instances imperial criticism.
