I think it's Creepy with a capital C. My parents never read us Dr. Seuss (I can only wonder why), and there is nothing nostalgic about this book for me. So, when I read The Cat In The Hat for the first time with my son, I saw it clearly with adult eyes and I was appalled (and I don't get appalled easily). First of all, why are the children left home alone, in an unlocked house, where a stranger can waltz in at any moment? The messages in this book make me cringe: Allow a stranger into your home; let him do as he wishes there (it's ok as long as Mom isn't around to see it); don't tell Mom about what went on with the strange man in your home (?!?) These are not lessons I want my child to learn, even in an imaginary world. My son loves it, he's only two and just likes the rhyming words. My husband loves it for the nostalgia and doesn't see the harm in it. I, on the other hand, will be trying to figure out a way to hide it at the back of the closet.

4 estrellas.

the cat in the hat \ the story strangely so relevant I think for every kid(parents not at home, letting a stranger in the house... things the kids shouldn't do...)
but, the story changed the end as if it is not a big deal...
