This is my 2nd or 3rd time through this screenplay and diaries, but it's been a number of years. Emma Thompson is a joy to read. The stage directions in the screenplay alone are worth the read.

It was cool to get a glimpse into Emma Thompson's thought processes as she brought one of my favorite books to the screen.

I was reading a blog post about Emma Thompson and some of the commenters mentioned this book. I had no idea it existed! I was able to get a used copy for a few dollars (I'm pretty sure my local library wouldn't have it). Sense & Sensibility is one of my favorite movies, so this was really fun to read. If you know the movie well enough you'll notice where some scenes and dialogue were cut from the movie. Emma Thompson's production diary was fun (sometimes a bit repetitive though) and highlighted the challenges of making a period piece in national historical sites and battling British weather. I think my favorite bits though were any story with Alan Rickman and the letter the actress who played Lucy wrote to Elinor a few years after the events of the book. Recommended, but really only for fans of Sense & Sensibility.

Someone recommended this book online somewhere because of Emma Thompson's production diary. During filming, she's divorcing Kenneth Branagh and meeting her now-husband Greg Wise, but she never mentions it, which is cool af. Instead here's her amazing screenplay, and her fun and funny production diary. Emma Thompson — she's just like us. This made me so happy to read.

The screenplay and pictures are great. I especially enjoyed reading a real screenplay. Watch out for language in the diaries, though--it gets somewhat dirty. Aside from that, a very interesting look at movie-making.

I am a big fan of the movie. I think it is the best Jane Austen adaptation aside from the BBC 1995 adaptation of Pride and Prejudice. I am so lucky to come across this book. Emma Thompson is a talented writer and this book provided a clear insight to her sense of humor and also showcase her undeniable writing talent.

I hope she continue script-writing in this decade. Preferably, historical costume dramas.

This was a complete joy to read. It's one of my favourite films but reading the script was a totally new experience. Loved it.

This is wonderful. I wish there were more books written by Emma Thompson, epistolary or otherwise!
