If the last book I read was a gourmet meal, this was McDonald's. Still tasty, but the palate demographic is wildly different. This book gave me some minor Maximum Ride vibes (back when Maximum Ride was still good), but maybe it's all the wings. It's a little immature (high school- ick), and I could live without the casual misogyny directed at the main character's female best friend. But I bought the second book immediately, if that tells you anything. One Big Mac, please.
