I have been in a reading slump and this book helped revive me from said slump. I really enjoyed the twists and turns this story line took. I also enjoyed that the ending was a surprise to me and the chapter by chapter switch of narration between Amanda, Farrow, and Ruth really kept me in the suspense.
I do have a few complaints. The first one being that I felt like the ending of this story just didn’t make sense.Mr. Blue Eyes invaded Ruth’s home in the past and attempted to murder her. Which then makes me question why Mr. Blue Eyes would then help Amanda at the end of the book and treat her decently even though he is a bad man with bad actions toward women 🤔 Also, there were a few points I could tell this novel was written by a male because the female actions and language just didn’t make sense sometimes. Plus, the novel made Ruth seem like a crazy unstable woman through out although Mr. Blue Eyes stole her peace and comfort in this world inside her own home. Of course she’d be “unstable”. But like, Mr. Blue Eyes is framed to be the hero at the end? 🥴
