Great multi twist book with a few red herrings thrown in along the way. Found this a highly fast paced read with multi POV’s and a fairly satisfying ending that brings everything together.

I flew through this one! Watching all the seemingly disparate threads come together was incredibly satisfying, and the twists were genuinely surprising. The portrayal of trauma in its various forms was painful and brutal and honest.
Spoilers ahead…
Knocking of half a star, however, because turning the victim of an incredibly violent crime into a vengeful and murderous villain felt a tad icky. We spent too much time with Ruth post-trauma but not enough time with her once the delusions took hold, so the very real mental illness she suffered from was brushed aside. We jumped from a woman deserving of empathy to her serial killer alter ego too quickly to understand how the mental illness played into her crimes. I also wish the serial killer who destroyed her life wasn’t given a hero’s edit in the final paragraphs.
All in all, however, a fascinating take on Strangers on a Train!

My God this book is special. This is the first mystery/thriller to make my jaw drop in FOREVER. You think you know what you’re getting with this book and its premise, but you are oh so wrong. What a fabulous book. No notes, no comments, just admiration for Steve Cavanagh and the exceptional story he told.
Similar vibes to “The Kind Worth Killing”, which is another one of my favorites. I just want to scream from the rooftops how freaking good this was!!!!!!!
