The New Testament tells us that Jesus Christ lived for 33 years, but very little of the majority of his life is documented. Luckily, his childhood pal Biff has been resurrected to recount all those missing adventures, which include among other things kung fu, murder, and a yeti.

I'm familiar with the Bible only in comic book form (and I am not a Christian), but luckily that seems to be about as much familiarity is required to enjoy this book. I enjoyed the tight bonds between Biff and Josh, and how their adventures influenced Josh's later teachings. And despite the farce, there's plenty of touching moments and deeper themes about religion and humanity that are explored.

The gross-out humor - with plenty of sex, bestiality, and excrement - was a little much for my taste, however. The ending is also rather abrupt.

The first two-thirds of it was decent, but I gave up partway through the last third when it was just a rehash of all the bible stories with some extra stuff thrown in because it got boring.

As with most Moore novels, things are a bit chaotic towards the end, but overall delightful. As a Hindu raised in Mississippi, this book brought me closer to Christ than anything else has.

So funny. If you *could* know what Jesus' life was like, you would want it to be just like this. Funny, far-reaching, and loaded with some pretty outrageous situations. This story makes Jesus seem completely human with friends, insecurities, and a sense of humor - but still absolutely good and holy.

Loved it. Highly recommend. (not for kids)

Din ve hrıstiyanlık hakkında bir kara mizah bekliyordum. Vaatler de, beklentimi de karşılamadı.
