"Sooner or Later Everything Falls Into the Sea" by Sarah Pinsker

Nebula Awards Nominee

The rock star washed ashore at high tide.
A post-apocalyptic story. We never find out, what or how, just bits and pieces. This is more about the character development of the rock star and the woman who finds and rescues here. A fairly quiet story and bitter-sweet. I liked it and would pick up something else by the author.

Story breakdown:
"Charlotte, Incorporated": A remarkably touching story about an entity saving up for her first body, the entire thing calls in to question what it's like to actually possess a body, as well as the lengths one will go to in order to achieve their dreams. 4*

"Hereafter": Usually I don't care for time-travel stories, but this one really hit me in the feels. Although I thought the 'golden mean' thing came off as a bit of a stretch. 3*

"Sooner or Later Everything Falls into the Sea": I have to say, I would have placed this story in the fantasy section moreso than science fiction. The tale of a rockstar lost (maybe?) at sea, and the woman who finds her. Reminded me strongly of Lucy Wood's [b:Diving Belles|13253994|Diving Belles|Lucy Wood|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1328452275s/13253994.jpg|18455184]. 3*

"Transitional Forms": This one was just....not for me. Boring. Terraforming? Bacteria? Cowboys? 1*

"Monstrous Embrace": My FAVORITE of the issue, hands down. A rather classic fairy tale told from the voice of...death? Evil? Decay? It's never really made clear, but it's dark and twisty and poetic and beautiful and I loved it. 5* (http://www.lightspeedmagazine.com/fiction/monstrous-embrace/)

"Not by Wardrobe, Tornado, or Looking Glass": A cute story about a girl who is constantly on the lookout for her entry into a fantasy world - until she starts to think that maybe she'd rather stay in reality after all. 3*

"Map of Seventeen": I spent 2/3 of this story wondering why it was even here. When I DID find out why...sad trombone, man. 1*

"Starfish": I don't remember when I've ever really read about the Bermuda triangle. Not that this is specifically about the Bermuda triangle, but it might as well be. Okay story, but points for novelty! 3*

"May Be Some Time": While enjoyable, I thought that this novella about time-travel and bringing a member of Sir Scott's Antarctic expedition to the early 2050s got bogged down a bit in the middle and left a lot of potential unexplored. 2*
