I give this 4 stars based on the time it was written. I am ignoring the overly emotive and flowery dialogue that just goes on and on (of which the Micawbers are rife) as characteristic of the time. That said, there is a reason Dickens writing has endured. I particularly liked the sense of humour that showed through some of the scenes and the descriptive passages of place and character.

Wonderful male characters. Most of the women are either angelic or evil.  Racist comments against Jews. Still, a good book to experience.
