Bad Vibrations is a satirical story about a health cult. They drink blood, do yoga, and have “energy transfers”.  The main character, Valerie, is already knee-deep in the cult and travels to rural Pennsylvania to join the other members in the Doctor’s wellness retreat. Except the locals aren’t too thrilled that the “vampires” have arrived.

It was an interesting story, it was short, fast-paced, and funny. Valerie was a great unreliable narrator, and I loved learning about the cult and all of the weirdness behind it. It was fascinating to watch all of the cult members just absolutely eat up everything the Doctor was saying.

However, I did find there were too many characters to keep track of, and because most of them are all like-minded, it was confusing at times to figure out who’s who.

I definitely recommend checking this one out if you’re looking fun horror story on wellness cults.

Thank you to the publisher and to NetGalley for the gifted copy!

Rednecks v’s health nuts, some bloody fun

I was not sure if I’d like this at first, I don’t do a lot with social media, no tiktok, no instagram, and I’m not a health fad type, I’m just a simple guy, that loves horror, comedy and some good old fashioned carnage, what this book has a lot of.

There is two groups, the wacky health nuts, that think if you drink someone’s blood, and do yoga with a hula hoop on a mini trampoline while practicing scream therapy you can live forever, and the local trigger happy rednecks who think that the health nuts are trying to corrupt the town, these two groups end up going to war.

There is also a few twists in the story, which give it more depth, as opposed to just an all-out war between the two groups.

It's short (130 ish pages) but fun.

Thank you Joe Spagnola, S.C. Mendes and Blood Bound Books for the opportunity to read a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

A good story about cult and how they can influence you. There was some plot hole at times or at least some part of the story didn’t make sense for me but still a great read

I don’t know if I would exactly call this horror. It’s more of a cult thriller. The writing was simple and kind of choppy.

An interesting read, but just not for me.

Valerie desperately wants to be better, feel better, and she is now at an isolated wellness retreat to reach those goals with yoga and blood.  But the locals do not want blood drinking hippies in their town and soon they are at war.

This is hilarious and a brilliant satire on the weirdness of influencers and health gurus. This is a juxtaposed with the locals, rednecks, all beer, smokes and greasy food.
Both groups take themselves far too seriously and believe they are right. There are some great gruesome scenes here, but this is a true horror comedy and it was such fun!
