This was the second book of the series I read. I finished it in March of 2024. It's now January 2025 and I don't remember much of the plot. I feel fondly about it though, so it clearly left a good impression on me.

No one mattered to him more than Alex... Her eyes lit when he entered a room. Her breath caught when he kissed her. She actively worked to make him smile. And he found himself doing the same. What more connection could there be between mates? He couldn't even imagine.

Okay, I know I said that Lily and Verakko were my new favorite couple, but I did not expect to freaking LOVE Alex and Auzed this much!! Alex was such a fantastic Latina heroine and really embodied our culture. I saw so much of myself in her and her connection with her family, and I loved how she was portrayed as a strong yet imperfect woman. Auzed was my favorite kind of brooding hero; he was so stoic and controlled in all aspects of his life. He was equally obsessed with and confounded by Alex who challenged all of his rules and the staid comfort of his life, and I loved watching him begrudgingly admire and anticipate her refreshing nature. The ending was the perfect amount of angsty regret, mutual pining, and undying love, and I cannot wait for the enigmatic Fejo's book next

This book continues with delivering a fun love story, and I’m impressed that the author finds ways to avoid making the books feel repetitive. There are different twists present in each one. I wish this story had moved the overarching series narrative along a bit more. I am going to continue reading this series.
