There is something so comforting, nostalgic, and cosy about the Moomin books - I enjoyed the memoir style of this one, and it's gratifying to read a short novel, with such a fast pace in amongst some more challenging reads on my list. Nevertheless, there is still something quietly profound about the themes, plot, and characters that Jansson weaves throughout her novels.

All I remember from this book and the other ‘moomin-‘ books was that I didn’t like them, they were similar to The Gammage Cup, I liked that book better, and I read it way more often.
