Eighth in the Ranger's Apprentice fantasy action-adventure series for middle-grade readers.

My Take
It was confirming to watch Halt in action with the king. It finally sunk in that one of the things I so enjoy about Flanagan's series is the responsibility he gives his young characters. For young readers, this has to be a confidence-booster, that adults will take young people seriously. He also promotes a humane interaction with animals which I like.

There wasn't much to tie Hibernia in to our Ireland except for referring to Sean as O'Carrick and a cairn.

The Story
Whoa...Will and Horace learn Halt's deep, dark secret when they charge off to rescue the King of Clonmel from a false cult.

A task team is a perfect addition to the story.

Another well written book. I'm impressed with the way this writer can spin the same concept (peril in some part of the world, Halt, Will and Horace go to the rescue and all ends well--more or less) in so many different ways and have it still be interesting and captivating. This one did you leave you hanging and all didn't end up nice and neat, so I can't wait to read the next one.
