**4 Stars**

Wow, I really liked this! I knew nothing about the original movie, but I saw Guillermo del Toro's name on the cover and wanted to check it out (if you haven't seen Trollhunters on Netflix, watch it!!). Just based on the cover and the fact that the main character is 13 year old girl, I thought that this was gonna be a middle-grade book, but it got really dark, really quick.

What drew me to the story further (after I saw Guillermo del Toro's name) was the fact that it had such a fairy tale vibe to it, and the book delivered on that end impeccably. The writing style and atmosphere is absolutely enchanting but also extremely creepy (and might I add that the voice actor for the audiobook was very good!). The book also has its own fairy tales weaved in between what was happening in the current plot, which I loved.

This is a really quick read too, and I highly recommend it!

There are so many nuances in the book. I loved the movie when I saw it as a child many years ago. But now I'm so glad I gave the book a chance. Even though I no longer have contact with them: Thanks to the person who lent me the book a year ago. Otherwise I would have really missed out on the experience. If you ever want it back lmk

Oooooh my goodness.

I was completely and utterly charmed by this book. I haven't seen the movie since it released in 2006, but the wholesome, if darkly tainted, nostalgia that coated this book brought me to life. I NEED to get my hands on the movie ASAP for a rewatch. I want to see what I just read. I want to watch the magic come to life, see Ofelia's defiance, wonder, and bravery, witness Vidal's cruelty.

Pan's Labyrinth was a scalding cup of tea, at once comforting and painful, that I would gladly sip on over and over again.

I loved the Brother's Grimm fairytale twist that Pan's took. While a few things weren't my favorite, I have loved twisted fairytales since I read Grim & Grimmer when I was 8.

Its delightful and exciting when you get to see your childhood stories become bloody and gory and horrifying right in front of your eyes.

A part of me felt like something's were missing, like the mention of Mercedes being an enchantress and why Vidal was so specific about his request to tell his son. And how Mercedes wasn't caught sooner and why Carmen died and stuff like that.

Overall, I loved the concept of the whole book and it was a really great read.
